The scarf is worked flat. The main motif is made up of two sets of diagonal lines that move toward and away from each other, divided by one long line that runs the full length of the scarf. The diagonal lines are created by combining cabling with simple lacework on the RS. On the WS, some stitches are slipped to elongate them. Sections of the pattern alternate regularly to change the direction of the diagonal lines, giving a wavy visual effect. A slipped-stitch edge runs the length of the piece on both sides. Instructions are written only.

Finished Dimensions
Approx. 7.5"/19 cm wide and 68.25"/173.5 cm long. Note that the directional changes in the pattern give the edges of the scarf a slight undulating effect, just like a light breeze. More aggressive blocking may help achieve a somewhat straighter edge.

Approx. 725 yds/2 skeins of Seismic Butter Sock by Seismic Yarn & Dyeworks (85% Extra Fine Superwash Merino/15% Nylon, 437 yds/100g/skein). Colorway shown is Wild California.
Needles
US 7 (4.5mm) straight or circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge
34.5 sts and 36 rows = 4”/10cm in Section A pattern, after blocking.
Tools
Cable needle; tapestry needle; blocking boards and rust-proof pins for wet blocking.
Skills Required
Long Tail Cast On, cabling with or without a cable needle, simple lacework including yarn overs and decreases.
